Chrome extension privacy

Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Online Spectrum Analyzer for Chrome analyzes audio from a tab you choose. The captured signal and measurements remain on your device and are not uploaded to us.

Audio captured from the current tab

The extension accesses audio from the active browser tab only after you invoke the extension and select Start capture. It uses that temporary audio stream to draw a live spectrum or spectrogram and calculate signal measurements. It does not capture microphone input, other tabs, or tab audio in the background without this action.

Local processing and transmission

Tab audio, frequency data, time-domain samples, spectrum and spectrogram images, and calculated measurements are processed temporarily inside the extension on your device. The extension does not upload or transmit this information to Online Spectrum Analyzer, advertising services, analytics providers, or other third parties.

Storage and retention

The extension does not save captured audio, analysis results, browsing history, page content, account information, or personal information. Temporary analysis data exists only in memory while capture is active. It is discarded when capture stops, the media stream ends, or the side panel closes.

Permissions

activeTab provides temporary access to the tab only after you select the extension toolbar action. tabCapture is used to obtain the audio stream you explicitly choose to analyze. sidePanel displays the analyzer beside the current webpage. The extension does not request access to every website and does not declare broad host permissions.

External links and the website

The extension contains links to onlinespectrumanalyzer.com for the full file analyzer, product information, support, and this privacy policy. Following one of these links opens the website in a normal browser tab. Website accounts, payments, analytics, advertising, cookies, and uploaded-file workflows are governed by the separate website Privacy Policy; they are not part of the extension's tab-audio capture.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Any access to tab audio is limited to providing the extension's user-facing live audio-analysis features. We do not sell, transfer, or use captured audio or derived analysis data for advertising, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes, and no person is permitted to read or listen to it through the extension.

Security, children, and changes

Because captured audio and derived measurements are not transmitted or retained by the extension, they are not stored on our servers. The extension is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy when the extension or applicable requirements change, and revisions will be reflected on this page.
